And the overgrown gardens were just part of the mess. The security spells were faint and weak. Draco didn't even have to do countercharms for him and Mia to pass through the gates. Just inside the doors, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere.

"Sodding hell, the Ministry must have just squatted on this. Too arsed to bother cleaning it?" He scowled as he commented to his wife, and poked a dust bunny with his walking staff.

"Ice cream? You mean this auto just drives around and delivers ice cream to people?"

She gets a tighter grip and tugs him so they can run over.

"Let's get some! We deserve a break after all of that hard work we've put into the house."

Mia stands to wait in line behind the gathered kids, trying to make up her mind about what she wants and getting out her purse.

"Good thing I brought some muggle money," she whispers to Draco.

Draco resisted the urge to facepalm.

"Yes, brilliant of you, Mia." He debated on what looked good. Maybe some frozen custard.

Why would Draco facepalm at his wife's brilliance?

The nearby children are watching as the adults go about making their ice cream purchases. Adults aren't supposed to like these things, right? They like mushy stuff and vegetables.

Mia gets a sundae cone with plenty of chocolate and nuts, paying for hers and Draco's.

"Mmm, this is really good," she says between bites, offering Draco a taste from the cone.

Facepalming at his own foolishness for not thinking of money. Good thing his wife's so practical.

Draco leaned forward for a few licks before leaning even closer for a quick kiss.

"Delicious." No he doesn't care that some of the children were staring and making face. They can bugger off for all he cared right now.

Not to mention the chorus of, "Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!"

Mia giggles at them, and the kiss.

"Oh, you shouldn't be spoiling your dinner," she tells the kids before they walk away.

"Speaking of which, we should get to work on that soon. How about we practice making that filet mignon you want for your birthday?"

She walks back with him to the Manor, her arm in his.

Draco grinned, considering, "Sounds excellent."

"I'm sure my clever husband is going to impress me in the kitchen. Perhaps this time around, it will be my turn to distract you from cooking and cause you to accidentally char our food."

She takes a careless bite out of her cone, meaning she has to put her lips on top of the hole she's created to catch the ice cream.

Mia certainly means to be innocent, but it's not coming across that way.

Draco was going to respond but the way his wife's mouth moved over the cone... Well all the blood was going away from his brain at the moment, leaving him quite speechless.

She looks up at him once the potential ice cream disaster has been averted.

"Hmm?"

She blinks, recognizing that look.

"Oh goodness. It has been a little while, hasn't it? But remember, it's been a little while for me, too."

Mia leans closer to him, and says, "Perhaps I should wait for your birthday, and then you could..." whisper whisper whisper whisper "...for me, and then we'll..." whisper whisper whisper whisper "....and after that, I'll..." whisper whisper whisper whisper "...for you. How does all of that sound?"

Draco made a tiny noise in the back of his throat, before kissing her.

Mia kisses back.

.....and accidentally smashes the rest of her ice cream cone into Draco's chest as she does.
